Ready for a weekend writing sprint?
Or do you fancy going for a walk instead?
Walking has been my saviour this week.
It’s the only reason I managed to get anything written at all.
When the dim light of yet another short January day made it impossible for me to carry on labouring over my keyboard, I threw on as many layers as I could physically handle, headed outside and walked and walked and walked.
I’m lucky that I live near the seaside, so there’s always a gorgeous backdrop to draw inspiration from. One day it was so cold I think my face fell off. But no matter! I picked it up and carried on walking anyway.
There’s a TikTokker called Cecilia, who lives in Svalbard, a town close to the North Pole. She hasn’t seen daylight for about two months now. I literally don’t know how she gets up in the morning but she loves it.
She loves the darkness, her husky dog called Grim, airing her duvets in the freezing cold air, the northern lights, her aesthtically-pleasing hygge cabin - and getting her nails done.
That’s the key, isn’t it? Loving what you’re doing. Ultimately, I love writing, I love walking and so once the cobwebs have been blown away, I’m back at it.
So what are your goals this weekend?
Will you give yourself the gift of doing the thing you love?
Let me know how you get on.
