I stopped sharing my goals with English people (apart from in writers' groups) ages ago because they often try to piut such a dampener on ambition. Huge generalisation I know, but that's been my experience.
I'm so glad I spotted this reply 12 days later! Yikes. Sorry, Terry. I'm still getting the hang of this site and all its nifty corners. Honestly, the change in attitude was so refreshing. People didn't just nod or say good luck, they were keen to introduce me to groups of like-minded creatives and invite me to social/networking events. They really do have a LET'S DO THIS! attitude.
