Wow, Lisa. You did a great job on your book and for a very reasonable price for all. Indie publishing is definitely a project of coordination. Kudos to you! I’ll check it out.

Thank you! It's a lot of work that's for sure but lockdown gave me the time, so I'm grateful for that.

Happy fourth birthday to Ryan and especially to Chapter 18 "When It All Goes Wrong" where I waived anonymity to have a role! It's still a brilliant achievement to have your book published. You will always be able to claim you are an author and no one can take that away. I salute you :)

The book wouldn't be the same without your magnificent contribution. Now immortalised in print, as it should be!

What a wonderful story, Lisa. Congratulations on writing, publishing and making money. I read a celebrity journalism book a few years ago, and although reading about celebrities isn't my cup of tea, I found the book really interesting and hilarious. I wish I could remember what it was called. Some years ago I bought Keith Waterhouse's book about tabloids. It started as a house style guide for the Daily mirror. What I enjoyed about your post today was learning about your Essex connections. I'm close enough to occasionally go to Leigh or Southend for fish and chips! In my youth, I would waste time on the speedway cars at the mini funfair whose name I've forgotten (not the Kursal)! Sorry to ramble

I didn't want to write a book about celebrities because I thought that would be unbearably dull to write and read. It took a couple of years to figure out the structure. Once I realised I could do something useful with it, then it all sort of fell into place. I've learned a lot about celebrities - mainly that they are just people. Both intriguing and irritating! I'm watching the Dave Grohl baby fall out right now and wondering why people in the spotlight are put on a pedestal. That kind of perspective helps when interviewing them! But to get to the local angle, that's hilarious. Fishalicious in Leigh is my chippy of choice! I think you may have been talking about Peter Pan's Playground, now called Adventure Island?

I don't know anything about baby Grohl. Yes, Peter Pan. I don't know fishalicious, not by name anyhow. It might be one I already know, but I'll look out for that next time I'm in the area. Thanks! Re: celebrities, I've never understood why people ask their opinions on stuff like politics. Intriguing and irritating: sounds about right!

Fascinating, Lisa – I'll look up your book. Coincidentally, I'm writing up a Just Seventeen celeb anecdote this week for my Substack, really enjoying the trip down memory lane! We had some crazy opportunities back then.

I can't wait to read it! I do love the fact that Substack is giving us all an outlet to share all these memories. I joined the news desk when Jane Goldman went off to marry Jonathan Ross. I absolutely loved going into that tatty old office on Carnaby Street!

I also meant to say, I ng my own books on my shelf too! It's a great feeling isn't it.
